Hand Made Bento Sets for Sale
So I have started making some really nice bento bags and matching belts. I've made quite a few now and they are starting to pile up. I guess it has become a new facet of the "Bento Addiction" for me. I love being creative and making things. So I've decided to start offering these as sets for sale. Some of them I have matched with bento boxes from the "Natural" collection, some I'm just selling the bag and matching belt. They are each different sizes and some sets have two belts. I have found some really beautiful cloths and my goal was to make some unique and beautiful sets that you can't find anywhere else. Each photo will have details about what is included and the price. I will add to this entry when I make new sets and delete ones that have sold. Shipping will be $5 for the sets with boxes and $3 for sets without boxes.

Edit 3/25/09 :  I've lowered my prices by $10 a set!

Crane and Iris - This is my favorite set. The cloth is so beautiful! You can't reall tell in this photo but everything is outlined in shiny gold. This bag is my medium size and can fit the two tier box (included) and a small sidecar box (not included). This set will actually come with the pink natural two tier bento box. They had not arrived when I took this photo. It comes with the one belt that is made out of the same burn out velvet I trimmed the bag with. This set is very elegant set. This set is $35.00 SOLD. It includes the bag, 1 belt, pink two tier natural bento box and pink utensil set.
Here is a photo of it with the pink box it will come with
.</div>
.

Brown Kanji- This set has a very pretty Japanese style print. It is also a medium size and can fit the two tier box (included) and a small side car (not included). This was the first fabric that I fell in love with and it started this whole thing. This set comes with the bag, 2 belts (shown) the two tier box and a set of utensils and is $25.00  SOLD
SOLD
.

Lilly Pad - This bag has a lily pad leaf pattern in really pretty green, teal turquoise and cream colors. It is a large bag and can hold the two tier box (included) the large side car (included) and probably a small drink as well. This set comes with the bag, 2 belts (shown), the two tier green bento box, the green side car box and a set of green utensil. This set is $35.00

.

Blue scales - This pattern looks like blue snake skin. It's cool! This is the simplest and smallest bag I make and will only fit a two tier box (not included). I'm selling this set without a bento box, just the bag and 1 matching belt for $10.00
.

So there you have it. That's what has kept me busy lately. If you are interested in anything or have any questions leave a comment.
Happy Bentoing :D

3/6 EDIT:  My newest set - Red Paisley

This is a really cool print and I picked a beautiful Italian Mother of Pearl button for the belt, it matches perfectly!
This set comes with the bag (medium) one belt, the red urara two tier box and a set of matching chopsticks (not shown).
This set is $25.00  SOLD

.

Plum Kanji - I found this new Kanji fabric that I love. This photo doesn't show the true color which is a beautiful deep plum. The close up under the cut shows the true color. The large Kanji characters are shinny gold. This bag is small and will hold a two tier box snugly. I'm selling this set with just the bag and belt (the box shown is not include) for $15.00 SOLD

Ooo the red paisely is beaaauuuuutiful! I just got my bag today and I'm working on making a bento so I can take pictures with it and the bag and brag about it in mah journal XD I'll definitely link to this post! And I'm sorry to hear about your sewing machine troubles, that sucks! We have a sewing machine but it never ever works = / it's so frustrating to want to do a project but then you spend all your time just fussing with the machine rather than actually making anything. Oui!

Thank you :D I'm glad you like your set! Yes, I've been very frustrated with my machine lately and finally discovered the problem. At least it's fixable and hopefully I will be able to get back to sewing and quit all the fussing with it.

VERY pretty bags there, sadly I do not own a bento box ;_;

Thanks :) Most of my sets come with a bento box.

OOooo pretty! how much does the red box hold?
jewelmaker on March 14th, 2009 01:53 am (UTC)
Hi Laurabento :)
The red urara box holds a total of 580ml. The top tier holds 250 and the bottom holds 330ml. It's the same size as most the Natural Lunch boxes and a lot of the two tier boxes like Tenmari, Cliticky Click, Baby Zoo etc. :)

Your sets are GORGEOUS!!! The colors are beautiful and I love the way everything matches!! I'm about to buy my first bento soon and would be happy with any of these!! (I'm saving up my $ right now to get one) Have you tried selling these on etsy.com??

Good luck!! <3

These are very pretty! I would buy one if I had the money ;A;

I'm with marci_ny, I think you could sell these on etsy :D

selling tip
These bags are awesome! You should try selling them on etsy.com. It costs like 20 cents to post something for sale there, and I'm sure you could find some buyers!

Thanks for the input guys :D I do have them on etsy. It's been 3 weeks with no luck, but I'm still optimistic! Thanks for entering the drawing, good luck!

I'm posting, because you asked for feedback on your sets. :-) (No need to include me in the contest though, I have too many bags already... *g*)

I frankly think they are just too expensive. They are all beautiful and unique, I love the colors and patterns and how you chose matching boxes (especially the 'Crane and Iris' and the 'Lily Pad'). And I know it takes a lot of time to make them by hand, but bento bags are available on ebay for less money.

Also, there are many, many international bentoers on LJ here like myself and you didn't specify where you would be willing to ship to and what the shipping cost would be. That might be a concern too for someone interested in one of your sets.

I hope that was helpful. :-)
jewelmaker on March 20th, 2009 06:12 pm (UTC)
thanks feuerrabe, that was helpful. I figured it was probably partly due to high price. They do take a lot of time to make so I'm just hoping that the handmade uniqueness will be appealing enough for those that can afford something special and not just a production item that everybody has. I appreciate your input :D

Oh I've checked these out many times now since I joined the bentoLJ and I think they are just fantastic. I especially love the last one but that's because I'm in love with the color purple. I haven't bought any yet because I'm pouring all my monies right now into my freshly registered photography business. :/ All printing and such. But I think they are great. I don't think it's a matter of quality or style, just priority thanks to crapy economy right now. Have you tried selling them on esty.com?
princess_design on March 20th, 2009 05:50 pm (UTC)
They are really pretty! I love the plum one (I'm a purple freak). Alas, right now mortgage has to come before bento...but when there is money for bento, I'll be back!
(Followed you here from bentolunch :D)

The fabric choices are very lovely. The price is a little steep, but that is because I have some basic sewing skills and I think I could make some for myself! (I don't like paying money for something I can make!) But I think they are super pretty. The color combinations are great.

Nice
I really like the brown one and the plum one. They are all nice. How much are you charging for a set?
(Anonymous) on March 20th, 2009 06:09 pm (UTC)
Re: Nice
Nevermind. I didn't see the prices at first. They are a little expensive. On etsy.com, people are selling them for considerably less.
jennytork on March 20th, 2009 06:50 pm (UTC)
Oh, I like these!
I especially like the two kanjis and the red paisley one!
radioremindsme on March 20th, 2009 07:38 pm (UTC)
Wow, the Brown Kanji is really nice! Actually they all are! My only feedbag would be, as a younger person, maybe some more "fun" prints because these mostly look very "adult" (I love them however!)
Good luck, I know it can be hard to start sales on Etsy- don't give up! You will make a sale!
